American Bullion Awards 10 Scholarships in Annual Scholarship Program

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Feb 10, 2015) – American Bullion, Inc., a precious metals brokerage firm specializing in adding physical gold to individual retirement accounts (known as a “Gold IRA”), awarded 10 scholarships in its first annual Scholarship Program. Five high school scholarships worth $250 each, and five college scholarships worth $500 each were given. American Bullion is the first precious metals brokerage firm to offer a national scholarship.

Over 900 applications were received. Applicants were asked to write an essay answering the question “Why is gold a good investment for future generations?”

The winners were:

High School

  • Michael Kanwischer, Paw Paw High School (Michigan)
  • Madelaine Millar, Hellgate High School (Montana)
  • Hannah Finnerty, Waterloo High School (Illinois)
  • Vivekanand Rajasekar, Chattahoochee High School (Georgia)
  • Spencer H., Ransom Everglades High School (Florida)

College

  • Leslie Wood, Stark State College (Ohio)
  • Abigail Owens, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • Ashley Lewis, University of Alabama at Birmingham
  • Grant Trenary, Regis University (Colorado)
  • Marissa Fink, University of California at Berkeley

Orkan Ozkan, CEO of American Bullion, decided to launch the program in early 2014 to “make young minds think about something solid, and the value of investing in gold.” He was overwhelmingly pleased with the number of applications received, and the appreciation of gold investing applicants showed in their essays.

“We believe the road to financial literacy and savvy investing starts with education, and are happy to help students achieve their educational goals,” said Ozkan. “Students need to consider investing in assets with intrinsic value at a young age. Our modern world of investing is becoming more about speculation than tangible investment, and gold is the simplest and oldest way of investing in a tangible asset. Encouraging students to think about these things while also helping fund their education is a win-win.”

The winners showed enormous gratitude. Their essays, which can be read on American Bullion’s website, touched on gold investing in personal, creative, thought-provoking ways.

American Bullion will continue its Scholarship Program on an annual basis. Students can apply for the 2015 American Bullion Scholarship at www.americanbullion.com/scholarship.
